Mengler Family Wines was founded in 2015 with the principle of bringing family and friends together for the enjoyment of delicious, unique, small lot, single vineyard designated wines. In 2019 we produced 1,500 cases of wine with six different, vineyard designat ed varietals. Our philosophy is to use only Sonoma Country fruit, only American barrels, and to include family and friends in our wine production endeavor. Our signature wine, Rita’s Block, named after my wife, is made from a ¾ acre block of land in the Russian River Valley at Alegria Vineyards and is an 18 varietal Red Field Blend. I personally do most of the pruning, leafing and trimming. Then, family and friends do the harvesting, crushing and destemming and then we finish the winemaking on premises, then it’s off in barrels for aging. Rita’s Block won a Gold Medal at the 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Currently we also produce a Dolcetto, which scored 91 points from Wine Enthusiast and a Gold Medal at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair, a crisp Viognier from the Alexander Valley, a Russian River Valley Sangiovese, which recently won a Double Gold medal from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and a Best of Class award from the Sonoma County Harvest fair, an Unoaked Chardonnay fr om the Alexander Valley (which also has won a Best of Class Award from the Press Democrat – North Coast Wine Competition), and a Rose of Syrah which scored 90 points from Wine Enthusiast
